About First Love
First Love is a Japanese television series, released by Netflix on 24 November 2022. It is a recent example of experimental film techniques in a commercial TV series. Directed by Yuri Kanchiku. Starring by Mitsushima Hikari and Satoh Takeru.
The plot revolves around a man and a woman who met in the late 1990s as teenagers and grew up together in the early 2000s. After 15 years, they meet again and try to rekindle their first love through memories.
The use of experimental film techniques in First Love
At the same time, the combination of commercial cinema and experimental film art in TV series has opened up new worlds for me: in addition to the use of cameras to record footage, we also have a variety of ways to produce moving images.
The film’s unique colour and grain texture also add to the visual effect of the video. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to learn about experimental film.
